Join us for High Tea for HOBY (pronounced HI TEE 4 HO-BEE), brought to you as part of the Staying In project. Staying In Project encourages members to host events at their homes (or their families home as in this case) to provide a place to socialize while accepting donations for a cause of their choosing.
High tea is the British tradition of drinking tea while sitting in high-backed chairs at a table full of plated items such as meats, vegetables, salads, pies, tarts, tea sandwiches, and teacakes. It’s basically dinner, and in the working parts of England today, the word “tea” is used for a meal happening (with tea) from 5 to 7 p.m. Since most of us are sitting in traffic at that time, we will begin at 6:30pm just before the “official” cut-off. 🙂 (http://www.foodrepublic.com/2016/11/22/what-is-high-tea/)
For a minimum donation of $10 on Thursday, May 31st at 6:30pm you can enjoy a full meal followed by tea. All are encouraged to bring your favorite tea cup or mug, hopefully with a great story! If you would like an adult beverage with your meal, you are welcome to BYOB.
100% of donations will go to HOBY NC East (http://www.hobynceast.org)
