Projects we run

Below is a partial listing of projects we run (Please notice some projects have links to their respective pages). Many of these we run to raise money for our local and state charitable projects.

Goodfellows - Since 1934, we've treated needy children to a magical Christmas experience: a banquet of turkey and all the trimmings, a visit with Santa Claus, and a $125 shopping spree for needed clothing and shoes. (Chaperone Forms)

Haunted House- We build a haunted house in the fall and run it for two weeks around Halloween every year.

Turkey Shoot - We run a turkey shoot booth at the North Carolina State Fair every year.  What is a Turkey Shoot?  Line up twelve people in front of twelve paper targets and give them all guns full of bird shot.  The closest one to the center of the target walks away with a turkey.

HOPE - We have adopted a underprivileged public housing project in down town Raleigh.   We provide many things for this group of people including: mentoring for the kids, including DestinationImagiNation creativity and problem solving programs, sponsoring a Cub Scout pack, providing Turkey Baskets with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving, and others.

Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center Gala - Each year we host an annual Gala to benefit the North Carolina Jaycees Outpatient Treatment Facility at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since 1987, the North Carolina Jaycees have been dedicated to raising money and support for this facility at Duke. All of the proceeds from the event directly support this outpatient facility.

Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation - For three intense days, high school sophomores interact with business, education, government, and community leaders to probe issues like the role of government, the future of the United States, entrepreneurship and leadership development.

Jaychords - Contemporary a capella vocal performance group founded for triangle area members of the NC Jaycees and young professionals, the only Jaycees-run group in the state!

Scholarship Program - In an effort to "give back" as locally as possible, the Raleigh Jaycees started a scholarship program in 2003. These awards are given to high school seniors (from Raleigh) who are seeking to attend advanced education.

Book Club - An ongoing project, a new book is selected every month. See the calendar to find the next meeting. Click on the actual event to see the details of where/when and what the book will be for that month.

Boys Home - The NC Jaycees support a cottage at the Lake Waccamaw Boys Home. In support of this effort we make visitations, do fundraisers (such as a recent cookbook) and bring the boys up to Raleigh to particpate in events such as our Haunted House.

Fuel Drive - We chop wood and make deliveries to needy local families so they can heat their homes during the cold winter months.

Food Bank - We help sort food that feeds those in need.

Jaycee Store - Own your very own Jaycee attire/merchandise!

Sand Volleyball - We have teams that play in the Raleigh City League every summer.

Trips

Beach Trip - A large group of Jaycees migrate  down to Myrtle Beach every year during the middle of summer.  Beach and Jaycees... you can guess what happens!  ....a lot of fun!

Camping Trip - A holiday-weekend of camping, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors at a beautiful Grandfather Mountain campsite.

Rafting Trip - Join us to enjoy the wildest ride of them all - Nature!

Ski Trip - A group of Jaycees head north up to Snow Shoe every year in the middle of winter for a weekend of skiing and..... hmmm and what ever else happens! ....did I forget to mention fun again!

And many more! - From fundraisers for the Cystic Fybrosis and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, to hands-on work in public parks, or even helping children at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind find Easter Eggs, the Raleigh Jaycees touch hundreds of lives each year.
