The North Carolina State Fair brings in over 750,000 people for two weeks in October. The 2006 state fair is scheduled from October 13-22, 2006.

In addition to the annual state fair, the NC State Fairgrounds are home to four Dixie Gun and Knife Classic Shows each year since 1981.

Deer Hunters Convention. This annual event offers the latest in hunting equipment from more than 200 vendors. Seminars, displays, trophy scoring, and archery competition. Webpage Dixie Deer Classic

The Raleigh Rebels will be playing at the Dorton Arena. A member of the American Indoor Football League. Their season begins Feb 25, 2006.

EXP Paintball Tournament Season Opener. This is a 7-Man format, NPPL Feeder Series held throughout the East Coast kicking off its first event at the NC State Fairgrounds. Over $35,000 in prizes will be awarded across all divisions. Daily competition on Saturday and Sunday begins at 8:00 am.
