Project Presented: Camping Trip (Final)

Leah Breckstein motioned to approve the CPG as written with a $0 appropriation. Melissa Taylor seconded the motion.

Discussion: Thank you for running this project. We look forward to you running projects again.

Motion to accept the CPG passed.

 

Ways & Means Area Update – Christine Bauer

·          Have an opportunity to participate in another fundraiser for the chapter – PONY. Christine Bauer motioned to give an appropriation of $400 from the Ways and Means budget to go to Virginia to check out the PONY program. Leah Breckstein seconded the motion. Discussion: This would not be approving this project, just checking on another potential fundraiser.  Chris Compton had brought this to our attention last year and would be a potential project chair. Motion approved.

·          Have potential project chair for the Haunted House. Still looking for chair for the Turkey Shoot.

 

Membership Area Update – Melissa Taylor

·          Things are going well overall; had a tough month in June; We had a bunch of guests come out but not a lot joined; hope they will join in July

·          Carter is looking for a project chair for the open houses

·          We want to continue making sure members and guests feel welcome and everyone has a positive experience;

·          Any suggestions on how to bring in new members are welcome

 

Individual Development Area Update – Valerie Kovalak

·          Film Club had a successful event over the weekend

·          T-shirts for volleyball look great

·          Valerie Kovalak motioned to extend Blair Prusha’s A Cappella CPG until the end of June. Max Hall seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion approved.

·          Have a new project in August – getting clutter out of the house

 

Management Area Update – Leah Breckstein

·          Board Retreat – if you signed up for a double room, please give your check to Paul Hoover; room assignments will be coming out this week; we will be having two guest speakers as information sessions

·          GMM meeting set-up – chairs are not for the back tables; if you have any updates for set up let Leah know

·          Spent an hour cleaning up the office; please take out the trash if it gets full; be responsible for the members that you let in

·          Make sure that you label items for personal use if you leave it in the Jaycee office

·          New copier is now in the office; made a deal for a 35ppm copier; 3500 copies per month – want to make sure that we are not paying extra for more copies; if need to make a lot of copies – let Leah know; we may be able to split it between the months

·          Secret pals revealed

·          Snacks leftover from HOBY are in the closet

·          If you use something, please make sure you bring it back

 

Community Service Area Update – Ed Blackman

·          Director Michelle Thompson will be leaving the board at the end of July to continue with school. Michelle thanks everyone for the great experience

 

Community Fundraising Area Update – Phil Taylor (directors)

            No report

 

State Director Area Update – Max Hall

·          Sent out POE information for 2nd trimester to the VPs – follow them and try to get a lot of points

·          Scheduling a CPG book assembly; strongly encourage your project chairs to put them together; Wild Thing CPG was misplaced and will be judged the next time if it was misplaced

·          Burn Center – had a great tour

·          Received information for Young farmers and next meeting in Indianapolis

·          Will be doing a chapter visitation with Greensboro Jaycees after board retreat depending on manpower assignments

 

Treasurer Area Update – Sara Hardesty

·          Working on budget reports will have numbers for the board retreat for end of June; if need any additional information please send Sara an email

 

Legal Counsel Area Update – John Welch, Jr.

            No report.

 

Publicity Area Update – Jamilyn Cole

·          We finally have the membership brochures ready. The cost to print them right now is $0.80 a piece so if we decide that this is what we want to use then we can get a better rate on making the copies.

·          Have another membership type of brochure that has information that Christine used last year and will continue to update items

 

Secretary Area Update – Heather Snyder

·          Heather Snyder motioned to approve the minutes from the May board meeting and called June 6th board meeting. Ed Blackman seconded the motion. Motion to approve the minutes passed.

·          Please send in your agenda topics in a timely manner.

 

New Business

·          Ed Blackman made a motion to allow Alison Houchin to become a Community Service director. Christine Bauer seconded the motion. Discussion: Michelle Thompson will be leaving the board after the July board meeting; Alison is willing to fill in for the rest of the year; Ed apologizes to the board for not sending out notice earlier; know that you will do an awesome job; excited that you will be on the board; sad that you won’t be a project chair; Alison does great things for the Chapter; wish that you will still help with the Turkey Shoot; happy to have her still run the Food Bank project. Motion to make Alison Houchin a director passed. Alison will be sworn in at the board retreat.

·          Don’t forget about the Dick’s coupons; also available on the website

·          CPGs – encourage to send out early; email is good but a phone call is better; it is important to get the info. Peter is willing to help in any way

·          Note cards for member’s name badges that had not picked them up were sent around to encourage them to come out and to pick them up.
