Discussion:  Members raised questions as to whether this should remain a project or whether the chapter could just send the cards to the Boys Home without creating a special project.

Community Services - Debbie Schloss 

-     Ephipany House project is in the works

-     Scholarship Applications have been sent out

-     Goodfellows committee is being put together

-     May try to have a town meeting project

-     May want to assist Diabetes Foundation in constructing cityscape art for gala

 

Ways and Means - Allison Friar                                                                                               

-     Will Stanley  - Brookhill Update

$10,000 in the hole right now – low sales in college park, lower regular rail spaces, ads were costly, bands and stage for college park (we are still doing better than last year)

-     Dupre Jones moved to use the e-mail addresses from the Jaycee roster for next two Brookhill promotional announcements.

      Allison seconded the motion.

The motion was approved.

 

-        8:30 Looking for project chairs for fall projects.

-        Thinking of making a firefighters calendar.

 

Community Fundraising - Lisa Deck  

-     Found several people interesting in chairing Bid for Bachelors

-     Brookhill Gala is doing very well

-     Doing car wash for Boy’s Home in July (include HOPE children)

-     CF Shakedown – go to restaurants and get spare change from patrons

-     Needs AIDS Family Network – partner with spas to donate from a certain day

-     Boys Home Auction on June 17, 2003

 

Membership - Kathy Crowley

-     25% of renewals for April

-     Will be having call nights

-     Roster clean-up

-     Coffee with counselmen and other political officials

-      Need more veterans to be a buddy

 

Individual Development - Joy Sparks 

-     Planning non-verbal communication – having trouble with speakers

 

Management - Katy Green

-     MESS last Friday at Holihans went well

-     Files of CPGs in drawer

-     Planning to change day of Bits and Bytes

-     Thinking of ordering a sheet cake for GMM

-     HOBY Update

 

 

 

 

State Director - Karen Schellhorn

-      POE Update (anticipates that we will get 1000 points of 1800)

        Discussion as to whether we should donate money prior to fundraising event or after event to meet needs of POE points.  General consensus was that donations should be given as raised.

-      CPG Books Due 4/27  -  CPG Assembly 4/24

-      Spring Convention 5/16-18

 

Treasurer - Robin Kjos

-      Presented Financials

      Lisa Deck moved to approve financials as presented. (See Attached)

      Chris Compton seconded the motion.

      The Motion passed.

-      Tax Return is filed.  We will provide copy of return if requested.

 

Counsel - Reed Hollander

-      IRS Solicitation Regulations – need to include disclosures when seeking donations

-      Reminded Board that there is no voting by proxy.

-      May need to expand insurance coverage

 

Publicity Report - Dupre Jones 

-     Article in Smithfield newspaper re: Brookhill

-     Still looking for HOBY speakers

-     Carolina Parent magazine wants additional involvement with us

-     Gala  - need to use charity’s tax ID

-     Doing press release re: Chris Wilsey

-     Please remember to send in your Jaycall articles

-     Reminder to use PISS sheet

 

Secretary - Jennifer Jerzak

-           Reed Hollander moved to approve minutes of March 25, 2003 meeting.

            Chris Compton seconded the motion.

            The Minutes were approved.

 

-           Took poll on times printed on GMM Agendas.  General opinion was no times.
