The Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship Program

Description:
Established by the Raleigh Jaycees in 2003, the
following scholarships promote student achievement for
those who have demonstrated "Leadership Development
Through Community Service." Students must be
nominated by an Administrator, Guidance Counselor, or
Teacher from his or her current high school, or an
Employer or Community Service Supervisor. Criteria
include merit, character, and leadership and community
activities.
Value:
TWO awards will be given in 2008. Maximum amount for
each award is $750. Scholarships may be applied to expenses for tuition,
required fees, and required books. Scholarships will be awarded at the
beginning of the Fall 2008 semester.
Selection of Recipients:
Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship Fund Committee has the sole responsibility for
selecting award recipients. Recipients will be notified by mail by June 23,
2008. The following criteria will be used to determine scholarship recipients:
1) Length of commitment and quality of leadership responsibilities in community
and school activities, 2) Awards and honors, 3) Recommendations, 4) Academic
record, and 5) work experience.
Official Rules:
In order to be eligible for a Raleigh Jaycees Leadership and Community
Development Scholarship, applicants must complete the application form in its
entirety and return it with supporting attachments to the RJCSF committee by
the entry postmark deadline, June 16, 2008.
Scholarships:
- 1. Raleigh Jaycees Leadership and Community
Development College or University
Scholarship ($750)
- A. Student must be nominated by high school
administration, guidance counselor, core
subject teacher, employer, or community service
supervisor.
- B. Student must be a resident of Wake County.
- C. Student must have been accepted to an accredited
college or University. Student must attach copy of
acceptance letter or verification of enrollment for
the 2008-2009 school year.
- D. Student must have maintained an overall B average
or above during high school career and in any college
courses.
- E. Student must have demonstrated leadership skills
and commitment to community.
- 2. Raleigh Jaycees Leadership and Community
Development community or Technical College
Scholarship ($750)
- A. Student must be nominated by a school
representative, employer, or community service
supervisor.
- B. Student must be a resident of Wake County.
- C. Student have been accepted to or attend an
accredited Community or Technical College. Student must
attach proof of enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year.
- D. Student must have maintained an overall B average
or above during high school career and in any college
courses.
- E. Student must have demonstrated leadership skills
and commitment to the local community.
