The Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship Program

Description:

Established by the Raleigh Jaycees in 2003, the following scholarships promote student achievement for those who have demonstrated "Leadership Development Through Community Service." Students must be nominated by an Administrator, Guidance Counselor, or Teacher from his or her current high school, or an Employer or Community Service Supervisor. Criteria include merit, character, and leadership and community activities.

Value:

TWO awards will be given in 2008. Maximum amount for each award is $750. Scholarships may be applied to expenses for tuition, required fees, and required books. Scholarships will be awarded at the beginning of the Fall 2008 semester.

Selection of Recipients:

Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship Fund Committee has the sole responsibility for selecting award recipients. Recipients will be notified by mail by June 23, 2008. The following criteria will be used to determine scholarship recipients: 1) Length of commitment and quality of leadership responsibilities in community and school activities, 2) Awards and honors, 3) Recommendations, 4) Academic record, and 5) work experience.

Official Rules:

In order to be eligible for a Raleigh Jaycees Leadership and Community Development Scholarship, applicants must complete the application form in its entirety and return it with supporting attachments to the RJCSF committee by the entry postmark deadline, June 16, 2008.
