1. How much time will it take?
At a minimum we expect you to spend time with your child 2-3 times per month. The average mentor sees their child 3 times a month.
2. How will I get matched up with a child?
You will tell us if you would like a boy or a girl and what age range (most of the children are 6-10 years old).
3. Will I end up spending a lot of money?
We discourage you from spending money on the child each time you go out. Once in awhile is fine, but finding free activities will help build on the child's leisure resources. We do not want to have the child become dependent on your wallet for activities. The child should be building a relationship with you not your money.
4. When can I go see my child?
You arrange your visits with the child and their guardian. You can go during the week or on weekends.
5. What kind of activities would I do with my child?
Educational fun activities are always wonderful. Parks, hiking, reading, swimming, museums, festivals and special events. If you need ideas or resources check on the activity ideas page.
6. How do I know if being a mentor is for me?
If you are not 100% sure, or have never been to a project at Heritage Park before, you can go out with the mentor coordinator and their mentee to see what a regular day in the life of a mentor is like.
7. How do I sign up or ask questions?
