HOPE Mission Statement:

In an effort to have a long-term impact on a community, we have formed a partnership with a low-income housing unit (Heritage Park) in Raleigh. The Raleigh Jaycees are currently in the 8th year of this partnership. We are partnered with the Communities In Schools. CIS acts as a nucleus for the fifteen organizations that are presently active in the community. The goal is to bring these existing community resources together to provide essential services to the residents in an efficient, effective manner. The Jaycee commitment continues to be that of providing events and programs that will positively impact the lives of all Heritage Park residents.

Select projects we have conducted in previous years:

Mentor Program - Goal to provide a committed one-on-one relationship between a young HP resident and a jaycee. This is the most effective way to make a difference in a young person's life.

Helmet drive - Goal to provide helmets and a bike rodeo / safety day for all children under the age of 12 with either scooters or bicycles. (news coverage)

Career Day - Goal to expose HP children/young adults to a variety of careers in an effort to expand their horizons. We have pictures of this event in our scrapbook

Train trip/picnic for HP children - Goal to have jaycees interact with HP children in a fun and safe environment

Jaycee Job Shadowing Day - Goal to expose HP young adults to a single career of interest in a focused on-site environment

NC Museum of Art outing - Goal to have jaycees interact with HP children in a fun and safe environment

Trees Across Raleigh Tree Planting - Goal to expose HP children to community service in a fun and constructive way

Jaycee garden planting - Goal to construct a garden box on the HP premises to promote a sense of community and help the young adults in the neighborhood learn about responsibility and where food comes from. Also to beautify a memorial garden located in close proximity to the garden box.

Heritage Park May-fest - Goal to assist the Raleigh Housing Inter-Community Council in putting on a multi-community celebration.

Golf-Club Drive - Goal to collect golf clubs for several outings sponsored by the community learning center.
