Please see the Roster FAQ if you have trouble logging in to the roster.

I'm not receiving the mailing list(s)?

First, no matter who is your ISP, but ESPECIALLY Hotmail, check your junk mail filters and/or junk folder. MANY people have had their hotmail acct filtering the list emails straight to Junk/Trash. You need to click on the mails and say "this is not junk".

(other) Mailing lists often contain spam. Sometimes Hotmail/etc get a little over-zealous and decide to start filtering for you. (and for the cynics out there, gosh, it looks like a (Microsoft) Hotmail vs. Yahoo (groups) thing, doesn't it?)

You may want to un-subscribe and the re-subscribe.

The biggest problem is when you end up on the "bounce list". If your email is down (and you may not even know it), and a message to you bounces back to Yahoo, you get immediately placed on the bounce list and do not get any further emails from Yahoo. In theory Yahoo sends your mails later to check to see if your email is working again. You MUST reply to one of these emails to Yahoo to prove your mail is working, then and only then will Yahoo let you back on the list. To make matters wose, there is essentially nothing we can do from the administrative side to fix things for you. We cannot remove your email from the "bounce" list, only you can (by getting and replying to the check email from Yahoo). If you have a Yahoo ID you can log in, go to the group page (under "My groups") and tell it to send you a check-email so you can reply and clear things up. Sorry, wish there was a better fix.

As a last resort, most ISPs now give you 5-8 email addrs per acct. Add a new addr to your ISP, add it in to the roster as your alternate addr, and then subscribe with that "new" addr that Yahoo doesn't already consider bad.

I can't subscribe to ...

Well first, you must be a current Chapter member, then you must sign up (via the Roster tool)(using one of your addrs that appears in the roster). You should very shortly get a mail from Yahoo confirming whether you really truly wanted to subscribe (vs. some cretin signing you up for mailing lists that you didn't want to belong to).

If you don't get the email from Yahoo within 15-20 minutes.. try again.

If you still don't get a confirmation mail, try again in an hour (Yahoo is not the most reliable).

If you still don't get any mail, check your junk mail filters. It is not uncommon for any mail from Yahoo to get marked as Junk/Spam and filtered out either by your mail program and/or your ISP. We cannot do anything about filters on your end.

If you still are not getting anything, you may be on the "bounce list". See above for more about that.

My post did not go thru (hotmail/yahoo users), or got clipped

Be sure that you are sending your mail as "plain text", not as HTML.

Also, we do not allow attachments on the mailing lists. This helps to prevent the spread of email viruses.

For Hotmail users
Just above the "compose" window where you type your email, there is a pull-down menu that says "Tools"... use that menu and select "Rich Text Editor off".
