Our Involvement in the Community

We believe that service to humanity is the best work of life! The Raleigh Jaycees have been serving the Triangle area and state of North Carolina since 1932

Boys and Girls Home: The NC Jaycees support a cottage at the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina at Lake Waccamaw through fundraising and visitations.

CARE: Care and Regard for the Elderly. We brighten the days of the elderly with visits and special events at selected retirement communities in the area.

DSA: Distinguished Service Awards. We recognize members of the community who have shown exceptional leadership qualities, an outstanding record of personal achievement and excellent service to the community.

Fuel Drive: Annual event where Raleigh Jaycees chop wood, bag coal and make deliveries to needy families who use wood and coal to heat their homes.

Gala for Hope: We host a gala evening event to support the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program at the Duke Cancer Institute.

Goodfellows: Since 1934, the Raleigh Jaycees have brought Christmas joy to Raleigh needy families. We treat area children to a full Christmas dinner, a visit with Santa Claus and a shopping spree for needed clothing and shoes. It is the longest continuously running Jaycee project in the world.

Haunted House: Each fall we run a Haunted House fundraiser, a hit with local media and kids of all ages.

HOBY: Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. For three days every summer, high school juniors interact with business and community leaders to probe issues that will help them become future leaders of tomorrow.

HOPE: Heritage Park Outreach Enterprise. The Jaycees partner with Heritage Park, a public housing community in downtown Raleigh. We assist by providing tutoring, a Cub Scout troop, scholarships, and area outings for kids.

NC Jaycee Burn Center: Since its opening, the Burn Center has treated thousands of patients with therapy and rehabilitation.

PONY: Protect Our Nation’s Youth. Since July 2007 we have hosted a national girl’s fast pitch softball tournament in Cary. The PONY tournament brings over a hundred teams to Wake County with their coaches and family members, leading to an estimated economic impact in the millions of dollars! Where else but the Raleigh Jaycees can you have such an impact on the community as a volunteer?

Scholarship Program: In an effort to “give back” as locally as possible, the Raleigh Jaycees started a scholarship program in 2003. These awards are given to high school seniors (from Raleigh) who are seeking to attend advanced education.

Turkey Shoot: For more than 50 years, the Jaycees have had the longest running attraction at the NC State Fair. Twelve contestants each round try their hand at shooting shot guns at paper targets in order to win a frozen turkey.
